Rajasthan LS Polls: Congress introduces 5 first-time candidates, leaves Sikar seat for CPI(M)

The Congress announced  five more candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan on Thursday. Among them, AICC secretary Kuldeep Indora will contest from Ganganagar, while Urmila Jain, wife of former minister Pramod Jain Bhaya, will represent Jhalwar-Baran constituency. Notably, the party has allocated the Sikar parliamentary seat to the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

                      

All five Congress contenders are political newcomers, making their Lok Sabha election debut. Alongside Indora and Urmila Jain, Sunil Sharma, a Congress leader and private university chairman, will stand for election in Jaipur city. Additionally, Sangeeta Beniwal and Umeda Ram Beniwal will represent Pali and Barmer respectively.

 

Umeda Ram Beniwal previously contested the assembly election under the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) banner before joining the Congress. Sangeeta Beniwal formerly served as the chairperson of the Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

 

This announcement follows the party's declaration of 10 candidates on March 12, whereas the BJP has already named 15 candidates for Rajasthan's 25 Lok Sabha seats. Rajasthan's elections are scheduled in two phases on April 19 and April 26.
