The Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara have turned into a direct battle between Kamal Nath's family and the BJP. Despite winning only once in 1997, the BJP is determined to challenge the Nath family's stronghold. Kamal Nath, a veteran with nine Lok Sabha wins over 40 years, faces a tough challenge to retain his stronghold.

The Congress party has unveiled its lineup for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, revealing a list of 17 candidates hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal. 

On Tuesday, Arun Govil, renowned for his portrayal in 'Ramayan', submits his nomination as the BJP candidate for the Meerut Lok Sabha seat, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM.

The Samajwadi Party replaced Khajuraho LS candidate Mohan Yadav with ex-MLA Meera Deep Narayan Yadav to challenge BJP's VD Sharma in Madhya Pradesh. The shift aims to field a formidable local contender against the incumbent BJP chief, sources say.

The BJP has named Damodar Agarwal as its candidate for the Bhilwara Lok Sabha seat in Rajasthan, completing its list for all 25 seats in the state. The Congress has nominated former speaker C P Joshi for the same constituency.

As of now, BJP has not revealed its candidates for 12 seats in the state. Sources suggest that approximately six out of these 12 Members of Parliament are being closely scrutinized by the BJP leadership due to allegations of "unsatisfactory" performance. Previously, the party had excluded nine out of 11 sitting MPs from its second list of candidates in the state.

Tickets have been allotted to Kalicharan Munda from Khunti, Sukhdev Bhagat from Lohardaga and JP Patel from Hazaribagh. 

In Jharkhand, both the JMM and Congress aim for seven seats in the Lok Sabha polls, intensifying competition. The BJP's nomination shifts seat dynamics, with the Congress cautious about allocating more than five seats to the JMM, sparking speculation about a 7-5-1-1 formula.

The former judge, recognised for his relentless pursuit of justice, often found himself at odds with the TMC government due to his judgments and orders.

The party, under the leadership of Mayawati, has named contenders for 16 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, including Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnaur, Nagina, Muradabad, Rampur, Sambhal, Amroha, Meerut, and Baghpat seat.

While Tharoor is seeking a fourth term from the constituency of Thiruvananthapuram, this will be Chandrasekhar’s first Lok Sabha election
