The District Magistrate of Reasi has directed all licenced weapon holders to deposit their weapons in police stations as a precautionary measure before the Assembly elections.

EC officials during their three-day visit will review the preparedness for the upcoming Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir and collect feedback from political parties.

Shiv Sena (UBT) emerged victorious in both the Mumbai Graduates and Mumbai Teachers constituencies, while BJP secured the Konkan Graduates seat in the Maharashtra Legislative Council polls. Anil Parab of Shiv Sena won Mumbai Graduates with 44,784 votes, defeating BJP's Kiran Shelar, while Niranjan Davkhare of BJP clinched Konkan Graduates with 1,00,719 votes, and JM Abhyankar won the Mumbai Teachers seat for Shiv Sena (UBT).

Opposition parties slam BJP's appointment of election incharge, allege it's a tactic to push back polls.

Election Commission on June 10 announced by-polls to 13 Assembly constituencies across seven states. 

Election Commission declares by-polls to three Assemblies segments, Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh, vacated due to resignation by three Independent MLAs who have joined BJP.

The votes will be counted on July 13.
