Preparations are underway for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's roadshow in the Varanasi constituency on May 13, with the finalised route followed by his nomination filing from the Varanasi seat on May 14, as announced by the BJP's city president Vidyasagar Rai.

The BJP announced its candidates for the Kaiserganj and Raebareli Lok Sabha seats in UP, replacing Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh with his son Karan Bhushan Singh in Kaiserganj. In Raebareli, BJP nominated Dinesh Pratap Singh without awaiting Congress's nominee.

Nishad Party President and Minister Dr Sanjay Nishad and Apna Dal leader and cabinet minister Ashish Patel accompanied her at the time of the nomination filing.

Ranjit Chautala, who joined the BJP last month, is fielded from Hisar. Congress general secretary and former Union minister Selja is contesting from the Sirsa (reserve) seat while Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Chautala is contesting from the Kurukshetra seat. 

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, with the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand by his side, conducted a grand roadshow from the BJP state headquarters to the District Collectorate while filing his nomination for the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat on Monday.
