Days after nominating his nephew Tej Pratap Yadav, SP President Akhilesh Yadav reversed course and declared his own candidacy for UP’s Kannauj Lok Sabha seat due to discontent among the cadres.

Jorhat recorded the highest turnout of 76.20 per cent, followed by Dibrugarh (70.65) Sonitpur (69.84), Kaziranga (68.90) and Lakhimpur (68.34), they said.

The Congress on Friday changed its candidate in Rajasthan's Bhilwara Lok Sabha constituency, replacing Dr Damodar Gurjar with veteran party leader and former Assembly Speaker C.P. Joshi.

In a recent political move in MP, Yadvendra Singh Yadav, who parted ways with the BJP a year ago, accusing Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia of favoritism towards new party members, has been nominated by the Congress to contest against Scindia from the Guna Lok Sabha constituency.

As of now, BJP has not revealed its candidates for 12 seats in the state. Sources suggest that approximately six out of these 12 Members of Parliament are being closely scrutinized by the BJP leadership due to allegations of "unsatisfactory" performance. Previously, the party had excluded nine out of 11 sitting MPs from its second list of candidates in the state.

Congress has released its eighth list of 14 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, including three nominees from Madhya Pradesh. It nominates Pratap Bhanu Sharma against former MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Vidisha, and Rao Yadvendra Singh against Union Minister and BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia in Guna.
