Former SAD Chandigarh LS candidate joins AAP fold

Previously fielded from the ticket of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for Chandigarh parliamentary constituency in Lok Sabha elections, Hardeep Singh Butlera now joins the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today, on May 9. 

 

Butlera's supporters also joined the Aam Aadmi Party fold in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

CM Mann welcomed Butlera with open arms. 

 

Singh, a Chandigarh municipal councillor, said he was impressed by the development work carried out by the Mann government.

 

Akali Dal got a setback when Butlera recently resigned from the party, citing the reason of insufficient funds and no support from the party for the Lok Sabha polls. 

 

He also ascribed his decision to the SAD's "indifferent" attitude towards Chandigarh.

 

It was the first time that the SAD had fielded a candidate from the Chandigarh parliamentary constituency.
