Legendary former India cricket captain Kapil Dev has thrown his weight behind the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) decision to terminate central contracts for players who have shown a lack of commitment to domestic cricket.

"The decision-makers in BCCI are well aware that some players don't want to play any red ball cricket. If they are out of the Indian team, they would at best play a few Mushtaq Ali T20 games and then not report for state team duty during red ball season," a senior BCCI official told reporters on conditions of anonymity.

A regular member of the Indian team across formats not so long ago, Kishan has been missing from action since he asked for a break in the middle of the South Africa tour in December citing personal reasons.
