Despite their wins, the question remains whether they will be able to enter parliament, whether they will need to forfeit their seats, and whether they will be released to serve their terms. How will they take their oaths of office?

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won 18 of Bengal’s 42 seats, while the TMC bagged 22 seats.

Villagers did not cast ballot in protest of construction of a coal dumping yard.

The incident took place on Friday night when a group of people were sitting outside a house, Ajnala police station SHO Balbir Singh said, adding two bike-borne assailants came suddenly and opened indiscriminate fire on the gathering. 

The Basirhat constituency saw the highest turnout at 50.89%, followed by Jaynagar at 48.27%, Barasat at 47.49%, Diamond Harbour at 47.33%, and Mathurapur at 47.03%.

Violence-prone areas of Jadavpur and Diamond Harbour LS constituencies reported incidents of violence. The poll panel has received 1,450 complaints until 11 am from different political parties.

Arrangements have been made to transport elderly citizens and persons with disabilities (PwDs) to and from the polling booths of 3 Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand.

More than 10.06 crore citizens, including nearly 5.24 crore men, 4.82 crore women and 3,574 third-gender electors, are eligible to vote in this phase.

Voting began at 7 am in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seats, along with the 42 assembly segments that constitute these parliamentary constituencies.

Approximately 1.63 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in this phase, comprising 83.19 lakh men, 80.20 lakh women, and 538 individuals of the third gender.

Fifty seven seats are left in the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections to be voted on.
