Lakshya Sen has made history at the Paris Olympics by becoming the first Indian man to reach the semi-finals in the men’s singles badminton event. The 22-year-old shuttler achieved this remarkable feat after a thrilling comeback victory against the 12th seed, Chou Tien Chen from Taiwan. Sen’s victory, which came with scores of 19-21, 21-15, 21-12, was celebrated by the packed Indian crowd in the French capital.

Sen, dominated the game throughout the sets, with 11-6 in the first half of first set and 9-3 in second set. 

Chasing an unprecedented third Olympic medal, Sindhu did not have to toil much before getting past Kristin Kuuba of Estonia 21-5 and 21-10 in her second and last Group M match, while Sen was simply sensational in his 21-18 and 21-12 thrashing of Indonesia's world number 4 Jonatan Christie, the reigning All England and Asian champion.

A must win for India; Sen continuously retrieved every attack into the confines of the court and turned it into a winning set for him twice, further shocking Christie.
