Lin Yu Ting of Chinese Taipei made history by winning the gold medal in the women’s 57kg boxing category at the Paris Olympics. Her victory was remarkable not only because of the gold medal but also due to the ongoing controversy surrounding her gender eligibility.

Lakshya Sen has made history at the Paris Olympics by becoming the first Indian man to reach the semi-finals in the men’s singles badminton event. The 22-year-old shuttler achieved this remarkable feat after a thrilling comeback victory against the 12th seed, Chou Tien Chen from Taiwan. Sen’s victory, which came with scores of 19-21, 21-15, 21-12, was celebrated by the packed Indian crowd in the French capital.

The Indian mixed archery team, consisting of Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara, narrowly missed out on a bronze medal, losing 2-6 to the USA in the playoff. This team made history by becoming the first Indian mixed archery team to reach the semifinals of the Olympics. Despite their commendable performance, they couldn't secure a medal, finishing fourth in the competition.

"Taking into consideration the issues faced by athletes at the Olympic Games village because of the temperature and humidity in Paris, the Ministry of Sports decided to provide 40 ACs in the Games Village rooms where the Indian athletes are staying," the source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Indian table tennis player Manika Batra's journey in the women's singles event at the Paris 2024 Olympics came to an end as she lost to Japan's Hirano Miu in the round of 16. The match concluded with scores of 6-11, 9-11, 14-12, 8-11, 6-11 in favour of the Japanese player.
