Jharkhand Minister’s PS, his aide arrested after recovery of ₹35.23 cr cash in ED raids

After recovery of ₹35.23 crore cash from the premises of Jharkhand government's Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam's OSD, the Enforcement Directorate arrested his OSD Sanjeev and his servant Jahangir in the wee hours on Tuesday.

 

The raids started by ED at 4 am on Monday and continued till 3 am on Tuesday.

 

At 3.15 am on Tuesday, ED took Sanjeev Lal and servant Jahangir into custody and took them to ED office, where after interrogation, both were arrested.

 

ED has recovered a total of ₹35 crore 23 lakh in cash along with jewellery worth lakhs, letters related to transfer-posting and many digital evidences from Sanjeev Lal's different locations.

 

Sources said that ED recovered all the notes in bundles of five hundred rupees each and jewellery worth lakhs from three rooms of Lal’s flat. The cash was kept in sealed boxes, poly bags and cloth bags.

 

₹31.20 crore was recovered from Jahangir's house, while Rs 2.93 crore cash was recovered from the house of Sanjeev Lal's close builder Munna Singh.

 

Meanwhile, ED has launched search operations at seven locations in Ranchi on Tuesday also.

 

Sources said that raids are going on at the residence of builders in different locations of the Capital City.

 

Note sorting machines have been again brought to count cash recovered during Tuesday’s raids as, according to sources the amount is in crores of rupees.
