The Rouse Avenue court has reserved its order on summoning former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejaswi Yadav, and others in the "land for job" money laundering case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The court is expected to announce its decision on August 24.

Former Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji was arrested on June 14, 2023, by the ED in connection with a money laundering case linked to cash-for-jobs scam when he was the transport minister (2011-15).

Rahul Navin, who has been serving as the acting chief of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has now been appointed as the full-time director of the agency for a tenure of two years.

"You need to concentrate on the quality of prosecution and evidence. In all the cases where you are satisfied that a prima facie case is made out, you need to establish those cases in the court", the court stated.

Per the reply, the ED filed 15 ECIRs or money laundering cases in 2019 followed by 28 in 2020, 26 in 2021, 34 in 2022, 26 in 2023 and three in 2024 (till July 31).

A Delhi court recently dismissed the default bail petition filed by K. Kavitha, a prominent leader from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). This decision came after Kavitha withdrew her plea seeking default bail in the Delhi Excise Policy case. The court's ruling, delivered by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja at the Rouse Avenue court, was straightforward—the plea was dismissed as it was officially withdrawn by Kavitha’s counsel.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a supplementary charge sheet against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejaswi Yadav, and other accused in the land-for-job scam case. This charge sheet, submitted to the Rouse Avenue Court, names 11 additional accused and includes 96 documents as evidence.

Saha, who was arrested by the CBI last year for his alleged links to the scam but later released, has been asked to appear before the agency’s Kolkata office on Monday.

The accused allegedly enticed people in Ladakh and other areas to purchase "Emollient Coin" using cash or bank transfers, ED officials said. Depositors were also deceived with promises of up to 40 per cent returns with a lock-in period of 10 months, the probe agency added.

Rahul Gandhi claimed on X that "2 in 1 didn't appreciate my Chakravyuh speech," suggesting that ED ‘insiders’ informed him about a planned raid against him.

The locations raided included the premises of MLA R S Bali, who is also the chairman of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. Fortis Hospital in Kangra, promoted by Bali's company Himachal Healthcare Pvt Ltd, was also raided.
