Fourth Indian arrested in Canada for suspected role in separatist Nijjar killing case

Canadian authorities arrested a fourth Indian national on Saturday in connection with the killing of separatist Khalistan figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar, according to an official statement.

 

The arrested individual, identified as twenty-two-year-old Amardeep Singh, hails from the Brampton, Surrey, and Abbotsford areas of Canada. He faces charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

 

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) disclosed that Singh was apprehended on May 11 for his alleged involvement in Nijjar's killing. He was already in the custody of the Peel Regional Police due to unrelated firearms charges.

 

"This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts of our investigation to hold accountable those involved in the homicide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” stated Superintendent Mandeep Mooker, the Officer in Charge of IHIT.

 

Nijjar, aged 45, was shot dead outside the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18, 2023.

 

Earlier on May 3, IHIT investigators arrested three other Indian nationals—Karan Brar (22), Kamalpreet Singh (22), and Karanpreet Singh (28)—in connection with Nijjar's murder. They all reside in Edmonton and face charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
