"India created a world record with 64.2 crore voters, including 31.2 crore women, participating in the Lok Sabha elections this year," said Kumar.

In the penultimate round, 58 parliamentary constituencies in 8 states and Union Territories went to polls. Simultaneously, polling was also held for 42 assembly seats in Odisha.

Citizenships of other countries restrict actors, namely, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif from casting their ballot.

Polling, which is underway in Darjeeling, Balurghat and Raiganj constituencies, will continue till 6 pm.

Maximum people turn out to vote in early hours to escape heat.

"Our community probably has the highest voting percentage, nearly 99%. We take our responsibility very seriously. You don't get to see that because most of our votes are counted as male. But trust me, we are all aware that voting is a powerful opportunity for us," said Kumbar, pulling out the voter identity card that establishes her as male. 

The commission has also established 111 model polling stations, with 45 booths managed by women personnel, 36 by youths, and 32 by differently-abled staff.

The elderly and differently-abled voters exercised their franchise through postal ballots from their homes in different places of Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar districts, all part of the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency, which is scheduled for polling in the first phase on April 19.

A total of eight candidates have been placed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with the Samajwadi Party (SP) fielding three.

The election to 15 of the 56 seats of the Rajya Sabha is scheduled for February 27. Of these seats, 56 seats 41 have already been occupied by the Rajya Sabha candidates who were elected unopposed to the Upper House.
