The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a sweeping victory in the April 19 Assembly elections, winning 46 out of 60 seats, as per the Election Commission's data.

The new council of ministers under Prime Minister Narendra Modi features significant representation from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar lead with nine and four cabinet berths respectively, while Maharashtra has six.

The swearing-in ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan drew a notable crowd of close to 8,000 attendees, including Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth, singer Kailash Kher, and prominent business figures such as Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani.

Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister at Rashtrapati Bhavan Sunday, becoming only the second leader after Jawaharlal Nehru to secure a third consecutive term, with the 72-member Union Council of Ministers, administered the oath of office by President Droupadi Murmu, comprising 30 Cabinet Ministers and 5 Ministers of State with independent charge.

Joining Modi, who himself served as the Gujarat Chief Minister are six other former Chief Ministers. 

The 63-year-old leader, hailing from Sundargarh district, has a distinguished career, being the country's first tribal affairs minister under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Chirag's meteoric rise was marked by winning all five Lok Sabha seats allocated to the party in the NDA alliance in the recent elections, maintaining the party's 100 per cent strike rate. 

Rijiju, continuing as a minister for the third consecutive term—initially as a minister of state, later as a Cabinet minister—expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for the opportunity to serve.

The Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) founder, who has been a significant figure in Bihar's political landscape, achieved this milestone after a relentless pursuit of the Gaya Lok Sabha seat.

When he took oath as the prime minister for the first time in 2014, Modi had worn a cream linen kurta-pyjama with a beige golden jacket. For his 2019 swearing-in ceremony, the prime minister had chosen a similar dress paired with a beige jacket.

Party veteran HD Deve Gowda thanked Narendra Modi for granting a Cabinet position to JD(S) in NDA 3.0.

During the election campaign, Modi had announced that Odisha’s first BJP government would be sworn in on June 10. BJP state president Manmohan Samal had reiterated this on Saturday.
