The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved another milestone on Friday with the successful launch of the Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-8) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

The satellite named Einstein Probe (EP), which uses new X-ray detection technology inspired by the functioning of a lobster eye, was launched by a Long March-2C carrier rocket at 3:03 p.m. (Beijing Time) from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

The long March 2-C carrier rocket, propelling the satellite into space, took off from the Jiuquan satellite launch center, as confirmed by the state-run Xinhua news agency

India is aiming to launch 50 satellites in the next five years for geo-intelligence gathering which will include the creation of a layer of satellites in different orbits .
