In a significant policy shift, the Karnataka government is considering a proposal to extend the working hours for employees in the IT, IT-enabled Services (ITeS), and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sectors. The amendment to the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act of 1961 aims to increase the maximum working hours, a move that has already sparked considerable resistance from trade unions.

Sudha Murty, a celebrated author and philanthropist in her own right said, "I want to tell everyone don't sit at home, come out and vote, choose your leader. I always feel that urban people vote less as compared to those in rural areas. I request youngsters to come out and vote."

IT giant Infosys experienced its first annual headcount decline in almost 23 years, with a reduction of 25,994 employees during the financial year 2023-24, bringing the total headcount to 317,240, marking a 7.5 percent decrease from the previous fiscal year.

Following this transfer, Narayana Murthy's ownership stake in Infosys has decreased from 0.40 per cent to 0.36 per cent. The transaction occurred "off-market" on March 15.
