Despite criticism and humour, including a playful remark about forgetting to mention Article 370, the manifesto says  ‘PDP remains committed to representing the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.’

Insisting that the situation would have been different had Omar Abdullah consulted PDP before taking a decision on the seats, Mufti said her party would have definitely considered the situation for the greater interest of Kashmir

The Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency has historically been a battleground between the Abdullahs' National Conference (NC) and the Muftis' Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Interestingly, both are part of the INDI alliance, yet aim to field candidates on all J&K seats.

"Not even sparing their daughters to peddle propaganda by making them disown their families. Even after a brutal crackdown and suppression, GOI continues to feel paranoid. Shameless is an understatement for such cowardly actions," the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said in a post on X.

The major political parties in the constituency are the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP), and the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC).
