In Ladakh's political arena, BJP's incumbent MP, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, reaffirmed his allegiance to the party by extending support to candidate Tashi Gyalson, following internal disagreements.

Sitting BJP MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal has decided to run as an Independent and the National Conference is pressurising its INDIA Bloc partner Congress to field a candidate from Kargil instead of Leh.
