A bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta heard the case and scheduled it for further proceedings on May 17, awaiting the ED's response.

A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta will hear the plea of Soren in which he has challenged the May 3 order of the Jharkhand High Court dismissing his petition against the arrest.

The seat in Giridih district fell vacant following the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad.

Jharkhand High Court had reserved its order on Soren’s petition on February 28.

The main accused in this case, former Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the then Revenue Sub-Inspector of Bargain zone Bhanu Pratap are currently lodged in judicial custody in Hotwar jail. Three arrests have been made in this case including Mohammad Saddam.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approached the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court for bail in the land scam case. Soren has filed a petition through his lawyer in the special court of PMLA. The court will hear his petition on Tuesday.

The tableau was put on display during a procession of nature festival Sarhul of the tribal community here in Jharkhand on Thursday.

This is the third arrest by ED in a money laundering case related to land grabbing. Mohammad Saddam is accused of falsifying the documents of the land allegedly occupied by Hemant Soren.

ED sent summons eight times with malicious intent, says Soren.

Hemant Soren had filed an FIR under SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against ED officers and media persons.

All 3 persons summoned are accused of money laundering in a land scam case.
