The by-elections to three assembly constituencies: Hamirpur, Nalagarh and Dehra, would be held on July 10.

Election Commission declares by-polls to three Assemblies segments, Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh, vacated due to resignation by three Independent MLAs who have joined BJP.

While the BJP swept the Lok Sabha polls in Himachal, winning all four seats of Kangra, Hamirpur, Shimla (Reserved), and Mandi with reasonable margins for the third time in a row after 2014 and 2019, the people of Himachal chose to strengthen the Congress government in state by defeating BJP on four out of six Assembly seats, which went to by-polls after Congress rebels were disqualified. 

"We have decided not to vote as our demands have gone unheard," he said, adding that students are not able to study as there is no internet connectivity and several students dropped out of school during lockdown due to the Covid pandemic.

Polling is being held for four Lok Sabha seats and six Assembly constituencies in Himachal Pradesh today.

FIR was lodged under sections 188 (causing danger by disobedience), 505(3) (spreading rumours), 34 (criminal act done by several persons with common intention), and sections of the Religious Institution (Prevention and Misuse) Act 1988, police said.
