The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will vote in the first phase on September 18.

As per the last revision, Jammu and Kashmir had 8.7 million voters. Officials anticipate the final count will be between 8.8 and 8.9 million. "With the publication of these rolls, the Special Summary Revision exercise will conclude," an official stated.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar unveiled these plans while announcing the schedule for the upcoming assembly elections.

Even though the specific states were not mentioned by ECI, it is anticipated that the dates will be for Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

EC officials during their three-day visit will review the preparedness for the upcoming Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir and collect feedback from political parties.

The ECI team is scheduled to meet with representatives of various political parties at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has scheduled elections for 12 vacant seats in the Rajya Sabha on September 3. This decision marks a significant step in filling the seats that have recently become available across various states.

The EC, led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir from August 8-10 to review preparedness for Assembly polls, weeks before the Supreme Court's September 30 deadline for holding elections in the Union Territory.

During the visit ECI officials will meetDistrict Election Officers (DEOs), political party representatives, and other stakeholders from both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions, among others.

Sporadic incidents of violence were reported from Bagdah, Maniktala and Ranaghat Dakshin as the BJP accused TMC of assaulting its booth agents and stopping its candidates from visiting some polling stations.

According to an official letter obtained by a local news agency, the CEO has directed all 20 deputy commissioners, who also act as district election officials, to take up responsibilities outlined in the ECI's "election planner".

The term of the existing legislative assemblies in the three states are going to end on November 3, November 26, and January 5, 2025, respectively, and elections to these legislative assemblies are required to be conducted before the completion of their terms.
