General Dwivedi will lead a joint security review meeting with senior officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces at the police headquarters in Jammu.

Around 500 Para Special Forces commandos have been deployed to track down the 50-55 terrorists who have entered the area. 

Recent terror attacks in Jammu have been widely disseminated through social media platforms like Telegram and X by individuals operating accounts from outside India.

One of the family members said he confronted a suspicious man at the door. “I saw a tall person standing there. When I asked him to identify himself, he claimed it was his house. I punched him, but he dodged my blow. When I picked up a stone to hit him, he ran into the forests.”

Officials stated that two soldiers suffered minor injuries in the militant attack, and efforts are underway to eliminate the militants.

The confrontation took place in Jaddan Bata village in the Kastigarh area around 2 am when militants fired at the security search teams, as per the officials.

These incidents occurred during a joint cordon and search operation in the Desa forest area, where four Army personnel were killed on the intervening nights of Monday and Tuesday.

The young captain, who was only 27 years old, was a resident of Jing Tea Estate in Darjeeling, West Bengal.

“Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to COAS General Upendra Dwivedi this morning. RM was apprised of the ground situation and the ongoing counter-terrorism operation in Doda by the Army Chief,” the Defence Ministry's office posted on X.

Over 70 people, including 52 security personnel -- mostly from the Army -- have been killed in terror-related incidents in the Jammu region since 2021.

The way terrorists choose their targets at will shows that they are not facing any preemptive action or resistance anywhere till they reach their target. This raises serious questions about the functioning of the intelligence network in the region.
