The Congress party is set to hold a crucial meeting today to devise its strategy following the Supreme Court’s recent decision regarding the reservation policy for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs). This high-level meeting will take place at the residence of Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge at 6:30 p.m.

As the Lok Sabha elections 2024 near their conclusion, the Congress party has decided to refrain from participating in debates on exit polls, scheduled to begin on June 1. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera made this announcement, stating that the party does not find it necessary to engage in "speculation and slugfest for TRP."

The poll campaign picks up, three out of four Lok Sabha seats in HP– Hamirpur, Mandi and Kangra, to witness a battle of prestige with high-profile candidates in the fray.

"What is stopping the PM from having the diplomatic passport to Prajwal Revanna cancelled? How and why was he allowed to flee the country like Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, and Mehul Choksi were?" the Congress leader asked. 

Sudhir Sharma, Ravi Thakur, Rajinder Rana, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Chetanya Sharma, and Devinder Kumar Bhutto were disqualified on February 29, for defying a Congress whip to be present in the House and voting in favour of the Himachal Pradesh government during the cut motion and budget. 

"Last time I had decided to quit the Congress due to anger. This time, however, we have decided with a cool head and much thought. Now, we will do politics here (in BJP) only or quit politics instead of leaving the party," Lovely told reporters at the Delhi BJP office.

MLAs Sombir Sangwan (Dadri), Randhir Singh Gollen (Pundri), and Dharampal Gonder (Nilokheri) on Tuesday withdrew support to the BJP government and announced that they would back the Congress, reducing the Saini government to a minority in the state assembly. 

Polling is being held in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir-Champa (reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates), Surguja (reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates) and Raigarh (ST) seats in the third phase.
