Harpreet, along with another accomplice, Lovepreet Singh alias Luv, was apprehended on Thursday evening with four grams of ICE (methamphetamine) drug in their possession. The drug is used to keep one awake. 

Their parole orders stated that during their period of temporary release, they can neither speak to or address the media on any issue or make any statements. Their family members also cannot make a statement in any form of media. 

Singh, who has won the Lok Sabha polls from the Khadoor Sahib constituency in Punjab, has been granted four-day parole for the swearing-in. 

Singh's lawyer Rajdev Singh Khalsa said he will be taken to Delhi aboard a "military aircraft" for the swearing-in. 

During his stay in the national capital, neither Singh nor his relatives or family members can make a statement in any form of media, according to the conditions laid down in his parole order issued by the district magistrate of Punjab's Amritsar from where he was arrested on April 23 last year.

Earlier, the Punjab government forwarded a written request of Singh, to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, seeking temporary release or parole for him to take oath. The request was sent under Section 15 of the NSA, which allows for temporary release without conditions or with specified conditions.

Amritpal’s legal adviser, Imaan Singh Khara, informed on Tuesday that the plea by the radical Sikh leader was submitted to the Punjab government via the jail superintendent under Section 15 of the NSA on June 9.

Radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh has won the Khadoor Sahib seat by defeating Congress' Kulbir Singh Zira, according to the Election Commission. 

"How can a person who wears a 'chola' and partakes 'Amrit' one year back represent the 'panth' and not a 103-year-old party which has a consistent track record of safeguarding 'panthic' values," said Badal.

Scheduled for hearing before Justice Vinod S Bhardwaj's bench on Friday, Singh's plea cites the May 14 deadline for nomination submissions. 

"He (Amritpal) did not want to contest. But he said if it (contesting poll) is the decision of the 'sangat' then he would change his decision and bow before the 'sangat'," said Tarsem Singh.
