Expelled from SAD, Ravikaran Kahlon joins Punjab BJP

Ravikaran Kahlon who was expelled from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on May 15, citing, anti-party activities, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today, on May 16, within 24 hours following the expulsion. 

 

Kahlon was welcomed into the saffron party fold by Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar and party leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa. The induction ceremony took place in Chandigarh. 

 

Kahlon is the son of former Punjab Assembly speaker and rural development and panchayat minister Nirmal Singh Kahlon. 

 

Kahlon had unsuccessfully contested the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls from the Dera Baba Nanak seat. 

 

Badal on Wednesday expelled Kahlon from the primary membership of the SAD for "anti-party" activities and "backstabbing" the party. Akali Dal chief cited that indiscipline will not be tolerated at any cost. 

SAD President S Sukhbir Singh Badal expelled Dera Baba Nanak assembly incharge S Ravikaran Singh Kahlon from primary member ship of the party for anti party activities & for back stabbing the party. S Badal said that indiscipline will not be tolerated at any cost.
