Assam Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), state vice president, Jitul Deka has tendered his resignation, marking a setback for the party just ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

 

Deka, who served as the vice president of the AAP's Assam unit, conveyed his decision to step down from the party's primary membership in a letter addressed to the party's high command. However, the letter did not cite specific reasons for his resignation.

 

Simultaneously, AAP withdrew its candidate from the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat, while confirming its participation in the Dibrugarh and Sonitpur constituencies for the forthcoming polls.

 

The political landscape in Assam witnessed further shifts as the opposition announced the candidacy of AJP leader Lurinjyoti Gogoi for the Dibrugarh constituency, indicating a unified stance against the ruling party.

 

Meanwhile, Bhupen Borah extended an invitation to AAP, CPI, and CPI(M) to unite forces for the 2026 State Elections, hinting at potential changes in the state's political dynamics.
