Telangana: BJP and Congress goes neck-and-neck

As of 12:30 pm on Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress were leading in eight seats each out of the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana.

 

The counting of votes began at 8 am, and the results indicate a fierce contest between the two major parties in the state.

 

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi is ahead of his nearest BJP rival, K. Madhavi Latha, in the Hyderabad parliamentary constituency. 

 

After the fourth round of counting, Owaisi leads with 46,891 votes, while Madhavi Latha has 20,150 votes. The BJP candidate received 92,831 votes.

 

While a keen contest is underway in the Medak Lok Sabha seat. BRS’ P. Venkatarami Reddy leads with a slender margin of over 700 votes against his BJP rival, M. Raghunandan Rao (42,021 votes).

 

Congress nominee Neelam Madhu closely follows with 41,099 votes.

 

Telangana has 17 parliamentary constituencies.

 

Besides Congress and BJP, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is trailing far behind, leading in just one seat.

 

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Asaduddin Owaisi, is contesting only for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat.
