Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose accused of 'molestation' by temporary staffer

A temporary female staff member at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata has filed a written complaint with the police, accusing Governor C.V. Ananda Bose of outraging her modesty, according to police sources on Thursday.

 

The woman, identified as a temporary staff attached to the Peace Room in the Raj Bhavan, approached the officer-in-charge of the police outpost located inside the Governor’s House late Thursday afternoon, alleging that Ananda Bose molested her.

 

Upon receiving the complaint, the officer immediately contacted the local Hare Street police station, which has jurisdiction over the Raj Bhavan. Police subsequently arrived at the Governor’s House.

 

The woman was later escorted to the Hare Street police station from the Raj Bhavan, where she formally registered a written complaint, alleging that the Governor had molested her under the pretext of offering her a permanent job.

 

As of the time of this report, there has been no official reaction or statement from the Governor’s House regarding the matter.

 

Coincidentally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive in Kolkata later on Thursday and is expected to spend the night at the Raj Bhavan. PM Modi is slated to address three election rallies in West Bengal on Friday.

 

Security measures in and around the Raj Bhavan have been heightened following the police complaint against the Governor.
