Two soldiers and four terrorists were killed in two encounters in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Saturday, in Modergam and Frisal Chingam villages, officials said.


Lance Naik Pradeep Nain, a special forces Para commando lost his life in a gunfight at Modergam village as security personnel came under fire during  search operations and traced around three terrorists holed up in one place.

 

Havaldar Raj Kumar of 1st Rashtriya Rifles was killed when terrorists fired upon security forces searching Frisal Chingam village following a tip-off about Lashkar terrorists in the area. 

 

"Encounter started at Modergam Village of #Kulgam District. Police and Security Forces are on work. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Zone Police tweeted on X about the first encounter.

 

One terrorist remains trapped at Frisal Chingam and gunfights were continuing in both villages, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, VK Birdhi said after visiting the sites.
