147 people killed in road accidents in Mumbai from January to June this year: Shinde

The Maharashtra government revealed that 147 individuals lost their lives in road accidents in Mumbai from January to June 2023.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde shared these figures in a written response to a question posed by Congress legislator Ashok Chavan during the ongoing winter session of the state legislature in Nagpur.

 

Providing further details, Chief Minister Shinde reported that a total of 132 accidents occurred in Mumbai during this period, resulting in the unfortunate demise of 147 people. In response to these concerning statistics, the Chief Minister mentioned that Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials have already undertaken vehicle inspection drive to prevent such incidents.

 

The disclosure underscores the pressing need for increased road safety measures in Mumbai, with the state government acknowledging the gravity of the situation during the legislative session.
