As tensions over the Gaza War grip universities nationwide, Harvard University witnessed a symbolic act of protest as anti-Israel demonstrators raised the Palestinian flag over the John Harvard statue in Harvard Yard.

 

This act, deemed a violation of university policy, has prompted disciplinary action against the individuals involved.

Saturday's protests at Harvard saw the raising of three Palestinian flags, met with chants of "Free, free Palestine" and "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free."

 

Similar demonstrations erupted at campuses across the US, with clashes reported at UCLA and ongoing protests at George Washington University.

 

Palestinian students at a refugee camp in southern Gaza's Rafah expressed gratitude for the support seen on US college campuses.
