The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister asserted that the move aims at promoting the development of the region.

 

Addressing the gathered crowd, Mayawati said, "If you (people of the state) want, we will take strong steps to declare Western Uttar Pradesh as a separate state when our government will be formed at the Centre for development of people of this region."
