Google's doodle shows the inked finger to mark the beginning of Phase-1 on the Lok Sabha elections in the world's largest democracy.

Google is marking the biggest celebration of democracy on the planet with a doodle of the inked finger, visible across the country on April 19, when phase-1 of the Lok Sabha elections begins.

 

Click on the icon and you will be taken to all the top international and Indian websites covering election news, interactive maps and more.

 

In this phase17 states and four Union Territories will go to polls covering 102 constituencies.  About 16.63 crore voters will exercise their franchise In 1.87 lakh polling stations. Among them, 8.4 crore are men, 8.23 crore are women and 11,371 are third gender electors. 

 

Over the next six phases, the election process will continue until June 1 with 97 crore voters expected to exercise their democratic right.

 

The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.

 

Over 18 lakh polling officials will be on duty to ensure a smooth voting process.
