India open to expanding collaboration with IMF: FM

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed India's willingness to explore new avenues for collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) during a meeting with the IMF's First Deputy Managing Director, Gita Gopinath, on Saturday.

 

During the meeting, Gopinath congratulated Sitharaman on the Government of India's commitment to fiscal consolidation and policy continuity. 

 

"Finance Minister Smt. @nsitharaman stated that India deeply values its relationship and continuous engagement with IMF; and looking ahead, the Government of India is open to exploring more ways to increase India's collaboration with the IMF," the finance ministry said in a post on X.

 

Gopinath also praised the vibrancy of the Indian economy and highlighted the strength of India's relationship with the IMF, noting its significance to both India and the global economy.
