Centre grants ₹200 cr for Kerala flood relief

The union government has allocated Rs 200 crore to Kerala under the Urban Mitigation Programme for Thiruvananthapuram, which recently experienced waterlogging during the pre-monsoon showers.

 

This announcement was made by Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Electronics & Technology, and the BJP's Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha candidate, through a social media post.

 

In a post on 'X', Chandrasekhar urged the Left government in Kerala to submit a proposal for Thiruvananthapuram to the Centre by the end of this month.

 

"In yet another gesture of extending a helping hand to Kerala, PM Modi's Government offers assistance for a Rs 200 crore project under the Urban Flood Mitigation Programme for Thiruvananthapuram, the Pinarayi Vijayan government must now act by submitting a proposal for Thiruvananthapuram. The deadline for this proposal is the end of May 2024," Chandrasekhar wrote.

 

Chandrasekhar stated that this programme aims to address the issue of floods caused by heavy rains, "which wreak havoc on the people of Thiruvananthapuram".
