A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking the cancellation of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) election and the appointment of a one-man committee to oversee the process.

Former Commonwealth Games gold-medallist Narsingh Pancham Yadav was elected chairman of the Wrestling Federation of India's Athletes' Commission here on Wednesday, completing a process that was mandated by the sport's world governing body.

Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik on Tuesday denounced the IOA’s decision to hand back wrestling’s administrative control to the controversy-marred national federation.

The wrestling arena in India is abuzz with controversy as ace wrestler Bajrang Punia, along with Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and her husband Satywart Kadiyan, has decided to challenge the upcoming national trials organized by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is preparing to resume the senior National camp after a hiatus of almost 15 months. This revival comes amid a significant venue change, with Delhi likely to replace Patiala due to the ongoing farmers' protest.

"We came to know yesterday that Sanjay Singh had done some setting with UWW to get the suspension lifted. Brij Bhushan and Sanjay Singh have left no stone unturned to show that they are above the law," said Sakshi in a video posted on 'X'.

A charge sheet was filed against Singh on June 15, 2023, under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
