According to updates from the WhatsApp feature tracker, WABetaInfo, this functionality is being rolled out in the WhatsApp beta version for Android, specifically version 2.24.16.10.

WhatsApp is enhancing its audio and video quality with the newly introduced MLow codec. This codec improves call reliability by delivering clearer audio and superior noise and echo cancellation. WhatsApp and its parent company, Meta, are challenging the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021, which mandate the tracing of chats and identification of original messengers.
