Twenty-seven members of a joint family in Nagpur, Maharashtra, put aside their grief and went to cast votes on Friday despite losing an elderly relative a day ago.

Chhindwara led with the highest voter turnout at 73.85%, followed by Balaghat at 71.08%, Mandla at 68.96%, Shahdol at 60.40%, Jabalpur at 56.74%, and Sidhi at 51.56%. The combined turnout averaged at approximately 63.5%.

In the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh, Mayor Vikram Ahake, who recently switched allegiance to the BJP, made an unexpected plea to voters to support Congress' Nakul Nath.

The filing of his nomination came hot on the heels of a spirited 'Namankan Sabha' and a grand roadshow in Raisen, setting the stage for a vigorous electoral campaign.

"The celebration of democracy is not just a ritual, it's a solemn responsibility we all share as citizens," said Mugantiwari. "By casting our votes, we contribute to the shaping of our collective future and ensure that the voices of the people are heard loud and clear", he added.
