The Tamil Nadu government issued the notification for acquisition of land for the Parandur airport soon after the results of the Lok Sabha polls were declared.

Kotruk in the Imphal Valley is one of the many villages in the state that is “protected” by such groups which identify themselves as “Village Volunteers”, “Village Volunteer Force”, “Village Defence Force” and “Village Protection Force”.

VDC member is a resident of Makri village, which falls ahead of the Anti-Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS), referred to as the LoC fence, in Rajouri's Nowshera sector.  

The villagers gheraoed the village chief and the contractor alleging that they were stealing the materials like bricks meant for a development project, sources said.
