In a recent development, a Delhi court has reserved its order on the bail pleas of four co-owners of a basement implicated in a tragic incident that led to the deaths of three UPSC aspirants.

In a significant development, Delhi’s Tis Hazari court granted bail to Manuj Kathuria, the SUV driver implicated in the deaths of three UPSC aspirants at a coaching centre in Old Rajinder Nagar. The tragic incident, which resulted from Kathuria allegedly driving in a rash and negligent manner, causing water to flood the basement, led to severe consequences and raised many questions about accountability.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena expressed deep sorrow over the death of three civil services aspirants due to waterlogging in the basement of a coaching centre in Delhi. He described the incident as both "unfortunate and unacceptable," emphasising that such occurrences should not happen in the capital of India.

The recent tragic incident in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar, where three students drowned in the basement of a coaching centre, has sparked widespread outrage. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi has condemned the incident, describing it as the "height of negligence and mismanagement."

By leveraging the extensive Aadhaar database, the UPSC intends to cross-check the biometric details of candidates. During the online registration process, applicants will submit their fingerprints and photographs, which will be matched against the data on the exam day. This step is crucial in preventing impersonation and ensuring that only registered candidates can sit for the exams.

NTA had announced the UGC NET exam date on June 16, 2024, through a public notice on April 20. UPSC had also fixed the same date for the prelims through a notice dated March 19, 2024.

Out of a total of 1016 candidates recommended for appointment, Manipur proudly claims ten individuals who have exhibited exceptional merit and dedication.
