The ministry is considering proposing a new scheme modeled after the existing one. This seed fund initiative was designed to provide crucial financial support to startups for proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry, and commercialization.

State-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) have implemented a fresh round of price hikes for commercial LPG gas cylinders, affecting consumers across major cities in India. Effective from March 1, 2024, the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders have been increased by ₹25. This surge marks the second consecutive month of price hikes, following a similar increase in February.

Despite the scheme's objectives, it has faced significant criticism for potentially eroding transparency and accountability in political donations. Critics argue that anonymity permits undue influence over policy by major donors and could foster corruption and money laundering by enabling unlimited, undisclosed contributions from corporate entities, including those facing legal challenges.
