Two 'IED-like devices' were found in Guwahati on Friday, taking the total number of 'bomb-like substances' seized across the state in the last 24 hours to 10, officials said.

The banned ULFA(I) claimed on Thursday that they have planted bombs at 24 locations across Assam, including eight in the capital city, Guwahati. This announcement triggered a swift response from the security forces, who deployed teams to search for explosives.

The militant outfit, which seeks a "sovereign Assam," stated that the bombs failed to detonate due to technical errors.

Assam’s Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh, revealed on Saturday that a unit of the banned militant outfit is planning to disrupt the festivities with an attack in the region bordering Arunachal Pradesh.

Their stated objective? To pave the way for a three to four-week exclusive run of "Protishruti," an Assamese film tackling the devastating issue of drug abuse.
