The northern limit of the monsoon now extends from Mundra in Gujarat to Raxaul in Bihar, signaling its steady advance.

The Met office has issued red alerts for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki districts for Sunday and Monday, and sounded orange alerts for four other districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam.

A Disaster Management Department official said six people, including a married couple, died in different districts of south Bengal, including in Nadia, Purulia and Purba Bardhaman district.

Expressing deep concern for the affected regions, Shah took to social media to convey his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and extended wishes for the swift recovery of the injured.

The Meteorological Department said several places across the state recorded rain and hailstorms due to the circulation system formed over south-western Rajasthan and the surrounding Pakistan region. 

After a relatively short winter spell, Chandigarh has been witnessing a consistent daily increase in temperature, with the maximum temperature surpassing 24 degrees Celsius. In the early hours of Sunday, the minimum temperature recorded was 10.5 degrees Celsius.
