The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to deploy two battalions of Assam Rifles, comprising approximately 2,000 personnel, in the Jammu region. 

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) reported a notable decrease in terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, with 28 fatalities recorded up to July 21 this year, significantly lower than in previous years.

The OGWs assist terrorists infiltrating from Pakistan by providing them with food, shelter, and guidance. These workers direct terrorists to various locations where terror incidents occur in the Jammu division.

The peaceful region of Jammu has recently experienced a significant surge in terrorist activity, with districts such as Akhnoor, Doda, Kathua, Reasi, Rajouri, and Udhampur bearing the brunt of escalating violence throughout 2024.
