"Solid and Liquid Waste Management is the biggest challenge being faced by the urban local bodies today. Therefore, there will be a dedicated cell to meet these challenges, ensuring cleaner and more sustainable urban environments across Himachal Pradesh,"  said Chief Minister Sukhu.

CM calls on farmers to shift to chemical-free farming given the rising cases of cancer in the state.

The initiative also includes setting up cancer daycare centres across the state in phases, starting with 13 hospitals, and expanding to 27 high-load civil hospitals and 28 institutions. Palliative care units will be integrated into these centres.

Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur has openly criticised the Himachal Pradesh Congress government’s recent decision to discontinue the Himcare card services in private hospitals. Thakur described the move as a draconian decree that goes against the public interest.

Thakur accused Sukhu of deliberately missing the chance to secure additional aid from the Prime Minister, questioning the utilization of previous financial assistance for last year’s calamity relief. He cited grievances from Mandi district residents who received no relief despite severe losses.

According to the press release statement, the CM during his meeting with Nadda, also underscored his administration’s commitment to boosting the health sector via improving the infrastructure and services offered to the public. 

The Congress, which formed the government by securing 40 Assembly seats out of 68 against BJP’s 25 and three Independents in 2022 Assembly polls, had critically slipped to the figure of 34  just after 12 months of rule in February 2024, when six rebel Congress MLAs were disqualified from the state Assembly. 

Sukhu appointed two of his friends, Sunil Kumar Bittu as his Political Advisor and Naresh Chauhan as his Principal Media Advisor in the cabinet rank in December, 2022.

The Chief Minister expressed optimism that Himachal Pradesh would get substantial financial support from the Union Government for the development initiatives in Himachal Pradesh during his stint as the Prime Minister. 

Presiding over the meeting of the Forest department today, he instructed them to initiate long-term measures along with immediate initiatives to curb the problem. He stressed the people's participation in these efforts.

Himachal CM Sukhu said, “It's not an ordinary election in Himachal, it's between honesty and dishonesty and will set the course of future politics in the hill state.”
