"I feel that I can work with such a chief minister and party," he said.

Additionally, the committee confirmed decisions made by the disciplinary committee, expelling leaders for anti-party activities. 

"Whatever has been written against us, I present myself before the great throne of the Guru, seeking unconditional forgiveness from 'Guru Sahib' and 'Guru Panth'. Whether these mistakes are from the party or the government, I am seeking forgiveness for all these mistakes, which took place knowingly or unknowingly," Badal said.

Taking serious note of "anti-party activities" by some senior leaders "under a conspiracy", the Shiromani Akali Dal's disciplinary committee cancelled the primary membership of Chandumajra, Kaur, and former MLA Gurpartap Singh Wadala, it said.

The rebel SAD leaders, including Prem Singh Chandumajra and Bibi Jagir Kaur, had earlier issued an apology for the mistakes committed during their party's rule from 2007 to 2017, including failure to punish those responsible for the 2015 sacrilege incidents and pardoning Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the 2007 blasphemy case.

Sukhbir Badal has appeared before the Akal Takht to atone for various “mistakes”, at least on three occasions earlier. First time, Sukhbir, along with his late father and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal appeared before the Akal Takht, on December 8, 2018, to seek atonement for various “mistakes” committed “inadvertently” in the past.
