The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the police regarding Umar Khalid's bail plea in a case linked to the North East Delhi riots of 2020. Umar Khalid, a former JNU student leader, has been in custody since September 2020 under charges related to the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). His bail plea was previously dismissed by a trial court, prompting him to seek relief from the High Court.

Delhi High Court judge Amit Sharma recused himself on Thursday from hearing a batch of bail pleas in a Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) case linked to an alleged larger conspiracy behind the 2020 communal riots in Delhi, including that of student activist Sharjeel Imam.

The Karkardooma court in Delhi has dismissed a plea made by former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain, who sought the production of documents from another case.

The Delhi High Court has granted bail to JNU scholar Sharjeel Imam in a 2020 communal riots case. He was accused of sedition and unlawful activities related to inflammatory speeches made during the Delhi riots.
