"When our farmers were not released, we decided to squat on the rail track," Pandher said. 

This move is part of a series of protests orchestrated by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, marking a countrywide call to action.

"The resolution appeals for issue-based larger unity of all the Kisan platforms and organisations. It stresses the need for further discussions among the respective kisan organisations and platforms and following the right path and right thinking adopted in the successful united farmers' struggle in Delhi as still the right path leading to victory," the SKM said. 

Representatives from 37 farmer bodies, affiliated with the SKM, convened to strategize for the forthcoming "mahapanchayat" at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan. 

Shubhkaran, aged 21, succumbed to injuries sustained during clashes at the Khanauri border point on the Punjab-Haryana border on February 21.

Shubhkaran (21), a native of Bathinda, was killed and 12 security personnel were injured in clashes at Khanauri on the Punjab-Haryana border on February 21. The incident occurred when some protesting farmers were trying to head towards police barricades, put up to halt their "Delhi Chalo" march.

The party leaders said they are in complete support of farmers and also condemned the death of a farmer at the Khanauri border.

This comes amid thousands of farmers staying put at Khanauri and Shambhu points on Punjab's border with Haryana after their 'Delhi Chalo' march, spearheaded by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) to press the Centre for various demands, including a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops, was stopped by security forces.  

Earlier today, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) observed "Black Friday" on February 23 after the death of a farmer at Khanauri Border during the ongoing protest. The announcement was made by Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait.  

"Putting nails on the road is not justified. If they put nails in our way, we will also do the same in our villages. We also have to do barricading of our villages. If they are not allowing us to reach Delhi, we will not let them enter our villages," Tikait stated.

The victim has been identified as Subhkaran Singh, a resident of Baloke village in Punjab's Bathinda district, farmer leader Baldev Singh Sirsa said.

The two border points of Delhi and Haryana - Tikri and Singhu - are sealed with the heavy deployment of police personnel and multi-layered barricades of concrete and iron nails. Two lanes of the Ghazipur border have also been shut with multi-layer barricades and police personnel.
