The Supreme Court of India has declined to hold an open court hearing for the review petition challenging its judgement rejecting legal recognition of same-sex and queer marriages.

On July 10, the Supreme Court is set to review several requests to reconsider its decision from last year, which did not recognise same-sex marriage as legally valid.

Justice Kaul, who demitted office on December 25 after a tenure of over six years in the apex court, said although the goal has now been delayed for the queer community on account of the judgement, a change in society's view will give an impetus to law to change.
